All children are different, and every classroom is different. Therefore, the Spelling Conventions books have been designed to include an assortment of varied ability spelling lists. This allows for like groupings to cope with the demands of your classroom.
A My Words section is built into every unit where topical words can be added freely, or to add further extension words for the more able children.
Suggestions for grouping can be found in the teachers’ books.
Children need to be engaged in their learning, so Spelling Conventions teachers’ books provide at least 20 different games for students to play.

Spelling Conventions student books and teachers’ books are a continuum of structured curriculum-based learning from Foundation to Year 6.
The spiralling program of developmental words, engaging activities and games, combined with the easy allocation of specific ability groups, allows for all students to be catered for.
The Difficult Words section and the My Words section also provide opportunities for extension within the class group.
The Spelling Conventions teachers’ books are a completely new product designed to give support to teachers with the implementation of a syllabus-based whole-school spelling program.
They give step-by-step guidance for the teaching of the supplied phonics and all other spelling lists. They often supply stimulus questioning and answers to embed the children into their tasks.
Games, extension ideas and further challenges outside the students’ books are supplied throughout the teachers’ books
To maintain an economical price point for teachers resources, the Teachers’ Books are printed in black and white with some beautiful full-colour games inserted.
Schools that purchase class sets of the student books can access free yearly online resources for that class or grade, including instructional videos and the full-colour digital teachers’ books (see online section below).
Spelling Conventions books are designed from the curriculum up. The latest version of the Australian Curriculum has been comprehensively addressed in the revised 2nd edition. The content descriptions for each year level are expanded with one-to-one correspondence on the contents page in each student book, and on page 3 in the teachers’ books.
